Team Training Plan

Planning to be at this year’s Mardi Gras Outreach? Here’s the action plan BEFORE you arrive!  The purpose of this outreach is to share Christ and win the lost, but also that each participant may grow spiritually.

Below is the pre-trip groundwork to help your team prepare for Mardi Gras Outreach. We ask that each individual and team please complete the following in a purposeful way to ensure you get the most from your Mardi Gras experience. After all, you will get out of it what you put into it!  Helpful Tip: If you are attending as an individual, ask a few friends to join you in the preparation – it will be better together, and everyone will benefit!

Team Prayer

Click here for the Mardi Gras Prayer Guide!

As a team, we are asking that you meet for prayer approximately 5-6 times prior to the outreach. Included in these meetings should be 6 hours of prayer together as a team. You can meet and pray in any format that you like, we have an outline of suggested prayer points that we will send if you want to use. Overall we know this will help with the growth and unity of your team. It will also help to prepare your students for the intense nature of the outreach and anything they will experience once in New Orleans!

Fasting

We are asking that each team member spend 1 day in prayer and fasting prior to travel to the outreach. Of course this can be altered for medical reasons, as a team leader we will leave it to your discretion.

Media Fast

Included in our preparation for the outreach is a 2 week media fast leading up to the outreach. As a team leader we will leave this to your discretion, but ask that it would include a minimum of refrain from watching TV or movies, and listening to secular music. Teams who have taken this as a challenge have seen increased spiritual growth and hunger for God in their team members. We know as a leader you will know how to make the most of this for your team.

Public Witnessing

As a team we would like you to spend at least 1-2 hours sharing your faith in a public setting, prior to the outreach. This will prepare your students for the various styles of witnessing that they will participate in while at the outreach. From our experience those who have had an opportunity to do this before coming to the outreach are better prepared once they enter the intense environment of the Mardi Gras Festival. Our approach and style of witnessing is conversational, and is not intimidating since we use creative ways to connect with people in public places, however your students will benefit from this time prior to the outreach.

When you arrive in New Orleans we want you to have one single focus: to pursue Jesus and love others!
